Magnetic Particle Test

What is Magnetic Particle Testing?

Magnetic Particle Testing (MPT), also known as Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI), is a widely used non-destructive testing (NDT) method for identifying cracks, seams, laps, and other discontinuities on or just below the surface of ferromagnetic materials.

The process involves magnetizing the component and applying magnetic particles over the surface. Any defect causes leakage fields that attract particles, making the flaw visible under proper lighting conditions.
